‘GROUNDSWELL’ FILM: Online, Screening Bookings, DVDs, Merchandise, Publicity Materials

All enquiries to: groundswellnhsfilm@gmail.com

SCREENING BOOKINGS:

‘Groundswell’ has had screenings at the Regent Street Cinema in London’s West End, the Green Party Conference in Bristol, the Isle Of Wight’s main arts centre The Quay, The Old Market in Hove, The Depot in Lewes (which was sold out) and at other venues in North Devon, Cornwall, Sussex, Yorkshire and Co Durham. There are more bookings in April-June 2019  and further bookings in the offing in Yorkshire, Essex and Kent.

These bookings are for raising public awareness about the truth behind ‘the NHS crisis’ rather than for commercial gain. Bookers thus far include not just NHS campaigners but community groups, local Labour and Green parties and arts centres, with the film making a marked impact at all its screenings including in Tory constituencies such as the Isle of Wight.

“The film was awesome and deserves to be seen all over the country. It had a massive impact on the Isle of Wight last Saturday!” wrote Christine Lightbody, the Isle Of Wight screening organiser. The film has had very good reviews.

‘Groundswell’ is available in its 78-minute version. I’m happy as the film’s director to accompany the film for Q & As subject to availability, coverage of travel costs and a place to overnight if necessary – any days except Saturdays. Q & As are generally animated and last at least 45 minutes and as long as 90 minutes.

Christine Hyde kindly wrote of my Q & A at Batley in Yorkshire which she organised; “John was wonderful, gentle and intelligent, speaking to the concerns of the questioners fairly and comprehensively and drawing out those who were shaking their heads in disagreement, to address those concerns”

I would want a discussion on the type of event and its organisation and ways in which some remuneration to help me recover my film distribution and other costs might seem reasonable and practicable. Events organised by campaigners will be favoured.

Screenings organisers should do all they can to attract local media interest. I’m more than happy to do interviews with journalists and radio/TV presenters. Sending them samples of the film’s reviews can be helpful in arousing their interest.

We can provide a flyer and a 2-minute promo film and add screening details to them:

ONLINE:

‘Groundswell’ is now available online at: https://vimeo.com/ondemand/grassroots

Internet release of the film in the New Year has created widening public awareness of the film (a promotional clip in January had over 90,000 hits), This should assist audience interest in screenings, particularly if accompanied by a Q & A with the film’s director.

A number of viewers have commented on the richness of the film’s themes and information and that it bears repeated viewing.

“I have now seen Groundswell 3 times and even on the third viewing I was still riveted by the startling information concerning the destruction of the NHS.”  (Jill Rock, London)

DVDs:

DVDs of the full 78-minute version of the film are now available @ £5 each (£7 for package and posting) for private and public use. Anyone interested should email me: groundswellnhsfilm@gmail.com

The making of ‘Groundswell’ has been a ‘love’ project made for less than £7000 over the last 4+ years as does my and my colleague Gus Coral’s continuing work on the NHS campaign. If DVD purchasers wish to organise public screenings of the DVD then donations to my ‘Groundswell’ production account would be much appreciated: Partisan Productions (Groundswell) Ltd, NatWest Bank, St James’ & Piccadilly Branch. Sort Code: 56-00-03. Account Number: 17415748

BADGES:

Badges designed by Pearce Marchbank, one of the country’s leading graphic designers responsible for the iconic Time Out magazine cover, are available (£1 each). The badges were used for the 2018 legal action against the Government and NHS England by prominent campaigners led by Professor Allyson Pollock.

Note:  Discounts available for multiple purchases and for campaigners.
